Football betting rules at Anbessa Bet
This page explains football bet settlement for adult players in Ethiopia, including regular time, extra time, penalties, interrupted matches and live betting. Settlement means determining whether an accepted bet is won, lost or void under the applicable rules.
Before placing a bet, check the market name, time period, match status and special conditions in your bet slip. Anbessa Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data. Where a specific market differs from this general guide, its stated conditions take priority, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.
Important: most football markets cover 90 minutes plus stoppage time—not extra time or a penalty shootout. Cancellation deadlines and other operator-specific conditions must be checked in the published rules rather than assumed.
Standard settlement time: 90 minutes
For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within each half. Extra time is a separate period played after regular time in some knockout matches.
The following markets normally cover regular time only, unless their labels or rules state otherwise:
- Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win.
- Double Chance: two of those three outcomes combined.
- Total Goals: goals scored compared with the stated total.
- Handicap: the result after applying the stated goal adjustment.
- Both Teams to Score: whether each team scores at least once.
Do not assume that “full time” means the result after every possible period. Check the market’s time definition. An equal score at the end of regular time remains a draw for a 90-minute Match Result bet, even if one team wins later.
When extra time counts
Extra time counts only when the market explicitly includes it. A market labelled “including extra time” covers that period, but does not automatically include a penalty shootout.
“To Qualify,” “Winner of Tie,” “Team to Lift the Trophy” and “Outright Winner” concern progression or the eventual competition winner rather than a standard 90-minute result. Their rules may include extra time, penalties or results across multiple matches.
A bet on Team A to qualify can therefore win when Team A advances after extra time, if that outcome is covered by the market. A 90-minute 1X2 bet on Team A does not win merely because Team A advances.
How penalties are settled
A penalty during play is different from a penalty shootout. A penalty scored during regular time is a match goal. A penalty scored during extra time counts only for markets covering that period.
A penalty shootout is the separate tie-breaking contest after play ends. Its successful kicks normally do not count towards 90-minute Total Goals, Both Teams to Score or player goalscorer markets. The shootout winner may determine qualification, trophy or outright bets where the market rules include that outcome.
For penalty shootout betting rules, check whether the selection concerns the shootout itself or the final winner. These are not interchangeable markets.
Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches
A void bet has no winning or losing outcome; the stake on a void single bet is returned. How a void selection affects an accumulator depends on the applicable betting rules. A cancelled match does not automatically mean every related bet receives the same treatment.
Settlement deadline: [Compliance confirmation required: insert Anbessa Bet’s approved postponement and resumption deadlines, and any competition-specific exceptions.] Do not assume a 24-, 48- or 72-hour deadline applies.
- Cancelled before kick-off: bets may be void under the cancellation rules if the event does not take place.
- Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain valid if the fixture takes place within the approved period; otherwise, the applicable rules may require voiding.
- Abandoned after kick-off: unfinished markets may be void. Markets already conclusively determined may stand only where the rules permit this.
- Resumed later: whether bets remain valid depends on the resumption deadline and how the continued fixture is treated.
- Result changed after the final whistle: apply the official-result correction provisions, not an assumed automatic refund.
- Incorrect date, team or market: settlement depends on whether the error affects the event’s identity or the selection, and on the published error rules.
For postponed football match betting, check the updated fixture status and your accepted bet record before placing another selection.
Live football betting settlement
Live betting means placing a bet after the match has started. Prices and market availability can change rapidly. A submitted bet may face an acceptance delay or be rejected before confirmation.
A goal, red card, VAR review, penalty decision or dangerous attack can trigger a football odds change or market suspension—a temporary pause in betting. An unconfirmed submission is not an accepted bet.
Check your bet record when using Anbessa Bet live. Match clocks, scores and streams can be delayed; they do not replace the official data used for settlement. Also check whether a live total covers the whole match or only the remaining period.
Odds changes and bet confirmation
The accepted odds are those recorded when the bet is confirmed, subject to any applicable error provisions. If odds change before acceptance, the system may offer a new price or reject the submission. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
Review the selection, stake, odds and time period before confirming, especially during live football. Check any setting that allows acceptance of changed odds.
A later price movement alone does not change the recorded price of an accepted bet. Technical faults or obvious pricing errors require separate handling under the published rules; they do not justify assuming that every affected bet must stand or be refunded.
VAR, official data and result corrections
VAR—the Video Assistant Referee review process—can overturn goals, penalties and other decisions. Markets may be suspended while a decision is pending, and settlement may wait for confirmed event data.
A disallowed goal is not a confirmed goal for settlement. Corrections to cards, scorers or match statistics may also affect relevant markets. Later disciplinary decisions or changes to an official result do not necessarily alter every settled bet.
Any correction or resettlement must follow the applicable Terms and Conditions. If you dispute a result, keep your bet reference, market name, accepted odds and settlement details, then use Contact Us to request a review.
Player, cards and corners markets
- Cards: check whether the market includes only players on the pitch or also substitutes, bench staff and coaches. Treatment of second yellow cards and card points depends on the stated rules.
- Corners: check whether counting requires a corner to be awarded and taken. Do not assume an awarded but untaken corner counts; the market rules and official statistics determine settlement.
- Player participation: a non-participating player’s selection may be void, but starting-player and substitute requirements vary. Check the specific market rules before placing a bet.
- Player goals: own goals normally do not count as goals scored by the named player unless the rules state otherwise. First, last and anytime goalscorer markets may have different participation conditions.
